A South Melbourne agency you can walk into.
Zib Digital's head office is now at Level 7, 34 Eastern Rd, South Melbourne — Albert Park out the window, the Market four blocks up Coventry Street. We've run commercial digital since 2009, most of it from Richmond, and we've just moved the whole team here. SEO, website design, Google Ads and paid social, sold by the number it moves rather than the report it generates.
Eastern Road, opposite the park.
We're a five-minute walk from South Melbourne Market, a tram ride from the CBD and a straight run down Kings Way from the West Gate. If you're a local business, there's no reason to buy digital marketing from someone you've never met.

Fifteen minutes from our desk to most of the inner south.
Our new postcode, and the one we work hardest in. Showrooms and wholesalers along Cecil and Coventry, creative studios in the warehouse conversions.
Chapel Street retail, fashion eCommerce and premium services. Brand-led categories where website design, paid social and Shopify SEO have to work as one.
Hospitality, wellness and local services with sharp seasonality — the campaigns that live or die on how fast you can turn spend up and down.
Professional services, property and hospitality operating out of the towers. High-value, long-consideration buying cycles that reward search over social.
Bridport Street hospitality, boutique health and allied health practices, and service businesses whose customers all search with "near me" attached.
Bay Street retail plus the logistics, trades and light industrial operators behind it — the businesses whose leads live in Google Ads and Maps, not Instagram.
Legal, finance and B2B, where a single lead is worth thousands, the buying cycle runs long, and the game is intent quality rather than traffic volume.
Corporate head offices and national brands running multi-location campaigns — the ones that need one system and one report, not seven agency relationships.
Premium trades, property and health services, where the brief is fewer and better leads rather than a bigger pipeline of quotes that never close.
Ormond Road independents and home-based operators who compete on reputation. Local SEO and reviews do more here than any amount of paid reach.
Independent retail, hospitality and studios around the Market and Greville Street. Small budgets that need every dollar accounted for, which suits how we report.
Small, high-value local trade. Armstrong Street cafés, design practices and consultants where one extra client a month changes the year.
Our old neighbourhood, where we ran the agency before the move. Tech, SaaS and scale-ups, with buyers who audit our reporting as hard as we audit their funnel.
The High Street end: hospitality, beauty and specialist retail trading on foot traffic that a maps listing either captures or quietly loses.
Church Street retail, property and premium home services, where the buyer researches for weeks and lines up three quotes before calling anyone.
Not on the list? We work with businesses right across the state and the country. Start with our Melbourne digital marketing page, or jump straight to SEO, Google Ads and paid social.
Ranking in your suburb is a different job to ranking in Australia.
A national SEO program and a local one share maybe a third of their tactics. If your customers are within ten kilometres of your front door, the map pack is worth more than page one — and the map pack is won with proximity, prominence and relevance, not blog volume.
That's the work we do for South Melbourne businesses, and it's the same work we did on this page. Read it as a worked example.
-
Google Business Profile, run like an asset
Categories, services, products, attributes, Q&A and posts — all of it is ranking surface. Most profiles are filled in once and never touched again, which is exactly why the ones that are maintained win.
-
Proximity you can't change, prominence you can
You can't move your office closer to the searcher. You can out-review, out-cite and out-signal every competitor in the radius, which is what actually decides the three-pack between businesses of similar distance.
-
Suburb pages that say something
One page per suburb with the town name swapped is a spam signal, not a strategy. Real local pages carry real local detail — which is why this one names streets, postcodes and trams.
-
Reviews as a ranking input, not a vanity metric
Volume, recency, velocity and the words inside them. A steady drip of reviews that mention the service and the suburb beats a burst of five-star silence every time.
-
Structured data doing the translating
LocalBusiness markup with geo coordinates, opening hours and service area tells a search engine — and an AI answer engine — exactly what and where you are. This page ships with it. Most local pages don't.
SEO, website design and paid media, run as one system.
Sixteen years of work. A new front door.
What South Melbourne businesses actually ask us.
In Melbourne, most agency retainers land between $2,000 and $15,000 a month depending on how many channels you're running and how much media sits on top. Ours is no different — and the honest answer is that we start adding real commercial value at around $5–8k a month across media and retainer combined. Below that you're usually better served running it yourself with our free audit as the roadmap, and we'll tell you that on the first call rather than take the money.
Only if the maths works. An agency is worth it when the cost of the retainer is smaller than the margin on the extra revenue it produces, and when the work needs skills you'd otherwise have to hire three people to cover — search, paid media, creative and analytics. It isn't worth it if you're buying activity you can't tie to a number, which is why we report in leads, sales, ROAS and CAC rather than impressions. If we can't see a path to paying for ourselves, we'll say so.
Five questions worth asking anyone, us included. Who specifically does the work, and are they senior? What happens to my account if that person leaves? What's the notice period, and is there a clawback? Can you show me a client in my category with numbers rather than logos? And what would you tell me not to spend money on? The last one is the tell — an agency that can't name something it wouldn't sell you is selling you everything.
There's no single best one, and any agency claiming the title is telling you something about its marketing rather than its work. The useful question is which agency is best for your business: a national eCommerce brand and a South Melbourne trades business need almost opposite things. Look for relevant category experience, senior people who stay on the account, reporting you can hand to an accountant, and a contract you can leave. We're a Premier Google Partner and Meta Business Partner rating 4.8 from 90+ reviews, and we've been doing this since 2009 — but judge us on the audit, not the badges.
Local search is decided largely by three things: how close you are to the searcher, how prominent your business is (reviews, citations, links, brand signals), and how relevant your profile and site are to what they typed. That makes Google Business Profile, review velocity and structured data as important as your website content. National SEO is a different weighting entirely — more content, more authority, less geography.

No. This is our head office, and we work with clients across Australia. But there's a real advantage in being local: we can sit in your business, look at how customers actually find you, and be in the room when something needs deciding. We work regularly across South Yarra, St Kilda, Southbank, Albert Park, Port Melbourne, the CBD, Docklands, Prahran, Richmond and the bayside suburbs.
A senior digital manager who owns your number, briefed and reviewed by a partner with their name on the P&L. No juniors on rotation, no offshore team you've never met. The person you meet in the Eastern Road office in week one is the person you're still dealing with in year three.
We're ten minutes away. Come and see us.
Thirty minutes, in our boardroom or yours. We'll read your business, tell you the one place we'd move first, and give you the unvarnished version. No deck, no upsell, and if we're not the right fit we'll say so and point you somewhere better.
